A great day for the whole club with a Home Triple Header resulting in all three teams scoring impressive victories.

The Women beat fellow title contenders Oakleigh in a close game while the Men’s Teams both won comfortably .

Let’s look at last week’s Round 11 games.

Women defeated Oakleigh 19 – 16

The women hosted Oakleigh in their top of the table clash at the Ross Gregory Oval as the first game of the home triple header. This was a tight game between two first class teams sitting in the top two spots on the ladder.

The first quarter was tight and only two goals were scored with Power House getting one early through VAFA Rising Star Grace Read and Oakleigh responding late. There was only one point in it at the first break.

The second quarter was like the first with tightly contested football dominating the game. Both sides had opportunities, but Oakleigh was the only team to score a goal for the quarter and took a six-point lead into the main break.

This third quarter was again tightly contested with plenty of strength and skill on equal display. The Power House backline held firm containing Oakleigh to a single point while Grace Read managed to score another goal for the House at the other end to take a one-point lead into the final change.

The final quarter was played in two halves. The first half Power House dominated and locked the ball into their forward line but unfortunately only managed to score 3 behinds that edged them out to a 4-point lead with five minutes to go.

Oakleigh lifted again and came hard pushing the ball forward and asking questions of the defensive capabilities of the Power House team. However, the spirit of this team has been challenged before and they stood up again, holding out Oakleigh to record a memorable 3-point victory and secure top spot on the ladder.

Best for the House was Grace Read who dominated all around the ground and scored both our team’s goals. Grace Curran was also very prominent playing across half forward and putting her body on the line repeatedly to help the team. Alana Murray and Dani Butler were terrific while Steph Conlan was hard at the contest and Siobhan Donegan played well in another great team effort.

Next week we host Bulleen in another big game.

Reserves Men defeated Latrobe 25 – 132

In the second game of the Home Triple Header, the Men’s Reserves team had an opportunity to avenge last week’s disappointing result when they took on Latrobe on home soil.

From the first quarter the Power House team dominated across the ground with their midfield and halfbacks getting plenty of the ball. Sean Marshall was looking good up forward taking some strong marks and there was plenty of movement through the midfield and half forward by a team playing with confidence.

At quarter time we led By 37 points and by half time that lead had extended out to 83 points.

The second-half saw more of the same with Power House continuing to dominate against a plucky, undermanned but determined Latrobe outfit.

With winners all over the ground Power House pushed out to a very comfortable victory at home to celebrate the 50-game milestone of the popular midfielder Richie Ogenche.

Best for the House was Michael Sanders who dominated across half forward booting four goals and getting plenty of touches, while Isaac Taylor also found the goals kicking four of his own and continuing his rich vein of form. Wal Davie winner Sean Marshall booted 2 while Power Forward Daniel Buckley also booted 2. Up and coming youngster Tyler Denton-Gillespie got on the board with a double.

Singles went to Brendan Stack, Killian Troy, Brian Letch, Cam Hill, Dom Fogartyand Chandlar Eliezer.

Among the best players was Chandlar Eliezer who dominated from the first bounce. Dave Blamey repelled everything across half back. Paddy Flood was everywhere while veteran Josh Auchettl showed his class.

Seniors Men defeated Latrobe 136 – 11

A week is a long time in football. After a disappointing performance last week, this was an opportunity for the team to redeem themselves with a good performance and it was great to see the team bounce back in emphatic style!

We started strongly getting the first goal within 30 seconds through Rob Dyer after an impressive Brett Scotland tackle. This set the standard for the whole game. The first quarter continued in the same vein with the House having 11 scoring shots to 2 and an inaccurate House led by 19 points at the first change.

We kicked another goal in the first minute of the second term again through Rob Dyer. We continued to dominate, adding 6 goals while playing the fast moving, line breaking football that was a feature of our early season wins. We led by 58 points at the main break.
