Saturday was a fantastic day for the club, there is nothing like seeing a packed clubrooms cheering on the boys to two big wins! Captain Ben Leske was chaired off after a best on ground performance in his 100th game and the song was sang with gusto!
A big thankyou goes out to Steve Mason who organised the past players day, there were many past players in attendance including lots of former Club XVIII players, All had good memories of the enjoyable times they had playing with Power House.
We raised lots of valuable money for the club both through the lunch and raffle ticket sales, the bar also did a roaring trade – a massive thanks must be given to our local Belgian Marty Piron who worked the bar the entire day and night… a 13 hour shift!!! Super effort that Marty!
The after match presentation was a great laugh as always, we had past players and current players facing off in a boat race skull with both teams anchored by the Umpires on the day, in an unsurprising result the past players got the chocolates!!
The festivities kicked on into the night as we held the annual PHAFC Trivia Night, the night was run by Mr Fantastic himself Steve Devine! The trivia went down to the wire with Paddy Barrett and his international team holding a slender lead going into the final round, the last round was AFL questions which saw the internationals stumble as Bucks, Murph, Patty Arnold and co. stormed home for the win!
It was another great event for the club, thanks to Sam Watson, Steve Devine, Paddy Barrett and Marty Piron for their super efforts in putting the night together.
All in all it was one of the best days the club has had in recent years, and once again shows why the PHAFC culture and facilities are the envy of many clubs in the league. Ian Dakin took a few photos throughout the day, it’s always great to see smiling faces and past players around on days like this!
GO HOUSE!
