Round Six last week was a real bitter sweet day for the club as we hosted a tripleheader at the Ross Gregory Oval.
Another severely undermanned Men’s Seniors went down to Manningham while the Reserves were victorious and the Women won their second game in a row defeating Sth Districts to take home the Kearney Kennedy Cup.
The Women hosted local rivals South Melbourne Districts in the early game with both sides competing for the Kearney Kennedy Cup.

On a particularly wet track, both sides struggled early with the wet ball and heavy conditions with Power House leading 2-0 at the first break. It wasn’t until late in the second term when the House managed their first goal through Alana Murray. The House led 9-0 at the main break.
A rejuvenated Sth Districts team came out hard in the second half but couldn’t put on the scoreboard pressure that was needed. Although their work rate was high, the Power House defence stood firm headed by Katie Nolan and Dee Fitzpatrick. Despite the lift in intensity, neither side could register a goal and the House led 11-1 at the final change.
In the final quarter, a Katie Nolan goal sealed the result and the House ran out winners 20 points to 1.
Best for the team and winner of the Best on Ground Medal was Katie Nolan who dominated through the middle and across half back all game and snuck forward to also kick a goal.

Lisa McCombs found some form in the ruck and around the ground and with Grace Curran, they dominated the stoppages. Dee Fitzpatrick and Bec Foley were strong in defence all day and the conditions suited Alana Murray (1 goal) and Anna Jones. It was a great overall team effort.

The Reserves were very slow out of the blocks and suddenly found themselves 5 goals down at the first break. Despite having plenty of the ball and territory, they allowed easy counter attack goals to Manningham who had settled well early. Half way through the second quarter, the Power House team sprung into life finally finding their rhythm and kicking 6 goals to find themselves 6 points up at half time in an amazing turn around.
Manningham fought back in the third term kicking 3 goals to nil to hold a 7 point lead at 3/4 time. But the House had belief and took on the game kicking 4 goals to one in the final term to run away with an 18 point victory, 12.19. 91 to 12.1.73 in a great team effort.
Best for the House were Neil O’Flynn and Kevin O’Connell (4 goals) while Declan Nannery dominated up forward with 4 goals. Cormac Diamond booted 2 while superstar Sean Marshall and David Canny each kicked 1. Jamie Carroll, John Robinson and the returning Josh Auchettl were dominant.
The Seniors took another very understrength side into their game against Manningham and started slowly and despite a late run in the first term, found themselves 24 points down at the first change. The second quarter didn’t get much better with the Cobras adding another 4 goals to 1 take control of the game. The boys fell away only kicking 2 goals after the break while conceding 9 to lose surprisingly by 73 points.
Ben Circosta and Travis Scotland were the best with Brendan Wright (2 goals) booting a goal of the year contender. David Cameron kicked his first ever senior goal while River Carroll delivered a special goal from the Lake pocket. Oli Gravelle was good again while Jeremy Hill continued his consistent form and Brett Scotland and Gordon Walker were among our best.
