Seniors

PowerHouse 6.14. 50  LOST to Hawthorn 8. 11. 59

Goal Kickers: J. Rombotis 3, A. Collett , A. Foster , D. Burnside
Best Players: S. Devine, G. Norris, N. Brown, A. Collett, C. Phillips, D. Baker

On  cold and very wet Ross Gregory Oval, the Seniors started off slowly into a 3 goal breeze and found themselves behind the 8 ball early on. By half time, and with a slight adjustment to the structure we found ourselves only 7 points down at the half. Our conversion rate was terrible kicking 2 goals 12 behinds.

We performed poorly in the third quarter conceding 4 goals without registering a major ourselves and were well behind at three quarter time. We finally found some momentum in the last quarter kicking 4 goals and dominating the game only to fall short by 9 points.

Steve Devine played a great game dominating the ruck contests and marking well around the ground. Darren Baker was hard and uncompromising in and under the packs while Chuck Norris and Adam Collett found plenty of the ball across half back. John Rombotis booted 3 goals in tough conditions and Nick Brown continued his fine season.

We will need to play more consistent football over a complete 4 quarters to ensure we get the points in the upcoming weeks.

Reserves

PowerHouse 4.8. 32  LOST to Hawthorn 6. 6. 42

Goal Kickers: G. Papalas , M. Lynch , P. Barrett , D. Buckley
Best Players: T. Selby, M. Devine, P. Barrett, G. Cleary, S. Shanks, M. Lynch

The dreadful, wet, muddy and windy conditions didn’t allow any side to play a structured free flowing game style. The Reserves played a very consistent and tough game of football for 4 quarters but slipped up in the final couple of minutes to just fail in their endeavours. Lynch and Matt Devine were great around the centre all day while Paddy Barrett, Shanksy and Selby were again dominant. Counsel was strong and a big presence for most of the game and Cleary battled strongly.

A disappointing result after 4 solid quarters with a little more hard work needed to be done to put the points on the board in the coming weeks.
