Eddo led the troops onto the Ross Gregory for the second home game of the season. Michael Chylinski, Lachlan Nevett, Peter Nevett, Justin White and Rob Somers all made their senior debut for the club and made worthy contributions.
It was a frantic first quarter with both teams quick to settle and kick some early goals. It was tough footy too with the stretcher called into action on two separate occasions. Both times it was an Ivanhoe player leaving the oval and with the blistering heat this was always going to prove detrimental for the visitors.
Powerhouse took control in the second quarter and turned a one goal deficit to a three goal advantage by the half time siren. Rombotis was going well around the middle and managed to snatch a few goals to add to his contribution.
The third quarter proved to be the most disappointing for the house as they left Ivanhoe back into the game. Ivanhoe took full advantage and kicked 5 goals to enter the final term only trailing by 2. Pikey kept a cool head and had the full attention of all players as they regrouped at three quarter time. The instructions were clear and proved to be effective as the house started the final term with purpose that was missing since the second quarter.
The midfield crew rotated well and big Lachy gave Burnside a well deserved chop out in the ruck during the final term. Whitey was seeing plenty of it on the wing and big Eddo and Goose made sure the ball didnt leave the forward line without a decent battle. In the end the house came home by 13 points but a bigger effort will be required in the comings weeks to put teams away when the opportunity presents itself.

A beautiful day for football saw Powerhouse a little slow out of the blocks. This was not helped with Jimmy Dwyer injuring his ankle in the first quarter and limping from the field. Paddy Barrett stepped up to fill his shoes, preventing a number of Ivanhoe scoring opportunities. The end of the first quarter saw Powerhouse down by 14 points to a strong Ivanhoe outfit.
Powerhouse won the second quarter by a point, with some great running from Stu Davidson and great ruckwork from Jacob Avery and Steve Devine. The Ivanhoe full-forward was also well-held by second gamer Tommy Selby. However the poor first quarter meant the House were still down a couple of goals.
A half-time spray from coach Warde Elliot inspired the home side kick away in the third quarter with two quick running goals from Gerry Tubridy. This helped the House lead by 20 points at three quarter time. The goals came thick and fast in the final quarter with Powerhouse kicking a number of unanswered goals to run out 45 point winners.
