Round 2 Review

The Women kicked off the day when they headed off to take on Glen Eira. This game was incredible with Power House losing Marie Moynihan and Grainne Devane in the opening contest and with Zara Treacy injuring her hamstring, we were 3 players down after only 5 minutes. By the third quarter, we we down to a fit 16 players but fought on valiantly to fall short 42-8.

Theresa McCafferty continued her fine early season form while Laura Murphy and Lauren Taylor were among the best players. Katie Nolan was the teams only goal kicker.

The Reserves let one get away against Ivanhoe in a close game. After a dominant first half, where first gamer Kevin O’Connell and key target Dave Cameron led the way, the boys were 5 goals up at the main break. The second half was a different story with Ivanhoe dominating the stoppages and fighting their way back. In a tight final quarter, Ivanhoe hung on to take the win 83-78.

Best for the House was Paddy Baxter at centre half back who marked everything that came his way and new recruit Kevin O’Connell booted 5 goalsJohn Robinson was good again and ever reliable utility Sean Marshall showcased his skills at both ends of the ground and though the midfield.

The Seniors will rue two bad quarters of football after their loss against Ivanhoe in the clubs first ever night game. In a tough and physical contest, Power House broke even in the first and third quarters but let Ivanhoe off the hook in the second and last quarters to lose in disappointing fashion 125- 30.

Best for the House were Brendan Wright who rucked tirelessly all night and half back Joey Halloran who stood firm. Willie Gleeson took on a number of roles for the team while captain Benny Circosta booted 2 goals. Darragh Leonard and Travis Scotland battled hard all night.
