It was a big trip down the highway in Round 14 as PHAFC squared off against South Mornington – a club yet to register a win in season 2014. It was an overcast and cold day and the rain came and went as it pleased.
The Reserves were up bright and early and headed down the peninsula knowing they needed a win to keep their finals chances alive. The Sough Mornington 2’s came out very fired up and the PHAFC boys were a little shell shocked in the first quarter, the Tigers led the House by a few goals at the first change. Coach Webb was furious with the effort and demanded more and to their credit the boys responded with a 4 goal 2nd term to go in 3 points up at the main break.
It was a real arm wrestle in the second half and tempers flared as they contest heated up, PHAFC kept kicking away only for South Mornington to peg them back. The boys did enough to get over the line and ended up running out winners by 26 points. Big Cat Matt Devine was fantastic and best on ground in his 50th match for Power House.

For the Seniors it was a procession from the start to finish. Many players got on the score card including Andrew ‘Kappa’ Kuhanez who kicked a personal best 4 goals. The Boys set up the win with a 6 goal First Quarter and 9 goal Second Quarter. Coach Voyage was less than impressed with a sloppy 3 goal Third Quarter as the rain tumbled down, he turned up the heat on his charges and the boys fired up in the Final Quarter with 6 goals to none. The eventual margin was 145 points – a handy little percentage booster which is vital with the competition being so tight.
