Saturdays match up against Aquinas loomed as a crucial match for both the Seniors and Reserves side. Unfortunately for the Reserves they failed a test against a top of the ladder team, the Seniors however showed some true grit and fighting spirit to bring home the points with a super last quarter.

There was a good sized crowd down on the day with many former players down to watch – including Merv Mckenzie who was the PHAFC Best & Fairest Winner in 1949/50.

LADDER

PHAFC Seniors are chasing down the Ladder leaders….

Both games were tight affairs and played in great spirit, the Reserves will lament a very poor 2nd and 3rd quarters which ultimately cost them in the end. Coach Webb was very disappointed in the result and implored all players to make the effort to get to training during the week to focus on skills and setups. The Reserves now drop to 8th spot on the ladder and much to do to work themselves back into the top 6. The boys have now slipped to 5 wins and 5 losses after dropping their last two matches.

For the Seniors it was a different story- challenged all day they finally stood up in the last quarter in a stirring come from behind victory. Coach Voyage was quoted as saying it was one of the best victories he’s been associated with in Football. The win puts the Seniors in the Top 6 for the first time this year and only one game off 2nd spot. Sitting at 6-4 there are m any crucial games are coming up that will define the season, so get around the boys and support the ‘House’ as they look to make finals for the first time since 2010.

The focus now moves to our next match away against La Trobe Uni. La Trobe will be a fired up outfit after losing both games against PHAFC in Round 4, the Seniors were victorious by 8 points on that day and the Reserves winning with an after the siren goal! IT should be another cracking day of Football!
