What’s going on at the House – March 2021

Hi all and welcome to March 2021.

There has been a hive of activity at the club over the past few weeks as all our three teams start to take shape for Season 2021. We are only about 4 weeks away from kicking off!

Pre-season training continues and after the debacle of last year, I’m sure that we are all looking forward to the upcoming season with great anticipation and excitement to finally get on the park and play some football.

The new committee has been working hard behind the scenes getting prepared for the year and the coaches Anthony McMahon (Men’s) and Warde Elliot (Women’s) have been plotting and planning their seasons, game styles and structures supported by interesting and challenging pre-season sessions.

There are plenty of exciting things going on down at the Ross Gregory Oval and we are very, very keen to see those last few players who we haven’t seen, return to the club over the next couple of weeks as we count down to Round 1 on Saturday 10 April 2021.

Pre-Season Training Camps

Last weekend, both teams convened for their respective Pre-Season Camps. Held over 2 days, both teams were taken through a series of physical and football challenges along with detailed presentations around game styles and structures.

Men’s Intra-Club Practice Match

Last night saw almost 45 players turn out for our first intra-club match practice for the season. Four quarters of tough uncompromising football with slick and fast ball movement and hard contests.

New Recruits
We are delighted to announce a number of new recruits to the club.

2017 Best and Fairest Fiachra “Figs” O’ Deasmhunaigh has returned to the club after spending the past two years in the country and interstate with work commitments. Probably the best Irish footballer to ever pull on a boot at Power House, the return of Figs will add a great deal to the Power House line up in 2021.

We are proud to announce the signing of Brian Letch for the 2021 season.
“Beej” comes to the club after some time away from football, focusing heavily on his personal training, fitness and nutrition.
His commitment to the green, white and black is already being felt during his short time at the club.
We’re looking forward to seeing him pull on our special jumper and represent the club with pride!

We also welcome back Dalach “Lachie” O’ Deasmhunaigh to the club after working up north in Queensland. Lachie played in 2018 and is a big, strong key defender who we are pleased to have back at the club.

The club welcomes former Heatherton ruckman/forward Gordon “Flash” Walker to Power House. Flash, who follows in his fathers footsteps at the club, is a big mobile ruck who we are looking to step into a key big man role in 2021.

Jordan Eliezer comes to us from Officer where he played his junior football. Following his brother Chandlar to the club, Jordan has been a constant at pre-season training and we look forward to him dominating around the packs.

George Gabriel is a pacy, small forward who comes to the club from old rivals Hawthorn Amateurs. We are looking forward to seeing George pull on the green black and white in 2021.

Antoine Van Cleemput has joined us this season and is a local lad who hails from Albert Park College. This is his first ever year of football so we are excited about watching his development in 2021.
