Round 5 kicked off with the Reserves getting an absolute hiding against La Trobe Uni. In the Seniors though it was a different story running out winners by 39 points.

Seniors Report

River Carroll continued his hot form from the previous week by kicking 4 goals, in Nick Nagel’s absence he really has stepped up. Pat Healey provided a great target up forward booting 2 goals and Luke Stubbs also kicked two majors.

Figs was again dominant across half back rebounding everything, Darren Baker turned back the clock with a vintage performance and Ben Circosta was back to his best form.

The win was setup in the first term with a 4 goal to nothing opening and then again in the 3rd quarter as the House slammed on 6 goals to 2.

The seniors now go 5-0 and 2 games clear in second spot, UHS-VU are also undefeated and looking dangerous.

Reserves Report

After a tough first quarter the boys trailed by 3 goals, Patty Arnold and Grant Lester got on the scoreboard early; but from there that was ‘all she wrote’!. The boys really struggled on the massive ground as their younger Uni opponents ran into space and switched all day.

La Trobe Uni piled on 6 goals in the 2nd term and then 8 goals in the 3rd, Coach Phil Mackney asked the boys for a better effort in the last and they responded by limiting the home team to only one goal.

Dom Fogarty ran all day, Micheal ‘MOG’ O’Gorman played his  best game for the year and Gordon Conochie gathered a heap of touches in just his 3rd ever game of AFL.

It wasn’t a great day to celebrate Bucks’ 100th game, but the boys still chaired him from the ground.

We now face South Melbourne in a must win game next Saturday and look forward to welcoming back a few key players!
