POWER House coach Martin Pike has tapped an old connection, recruiting his former AFL teammate John Rombotis to the VAFA club.

The former Fitzroy, Port Adelaide and Richmond midfielder has been appointed an assistant coach.

"We expect him to play a great on-field role'' President Nic Pavlou said.

Rombotis is one of about 18 recruits to the House, which is looking to build on an encouraging 2010.

In his first season in charge Pike steered the club from the relegation zone to the Preliminary Final.

The Reserves also made the Preliminary Final.

"In his short time at the club Martin has rebuilt the list, brought in a new structure and game plan, and rejuvenated the club across all levels,'' Pavlou said.

"We had 38 new registrations after we announced Martin as senior coach for 2010".

This season Pike will come up against another former Fitzroy star Richard Osborne, who is coaching promoted premiers Monash Gryphons.

Power House is training on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ross Gregory Oval at Albert Park, from 6pm.

The first game of the season is on Saturday, April 9.
