Hawthorn Physiotherapy Clinic has decided to open up on Sunday mornings for assessment and initial management of injuries sustained at Saturday sport. At the clinic, we see lots of sporting injuries on a Monday or Tuesday each week where poor injury management results in the person missing more weeks with an injury than what they might have if they had been told the correct information at the time of their injury through early assessment. The correct diagnosis and management is imperative in both protecting the injured site, and beginning the road to recovery as soon as possible.

We will have physiotherapists experienced both in local and AFL level physiotherapy assessing injuries from 9am each Sunday starting April 11th. No appointments will be taken so it is a requirement that the injured players arrive between 9am and 10.30am on the morning and they will be seen as soon as possible by the physiotherapist. This assessment will include x-ray or MRI referrals as required as well as providing the correct protective equipment to start the recovery such as CAM walkers (moon boots), slings, braces and crutches. This quick assessment will in turn allow your players get any required scans on the Monday after their injury as well as having an accurate diagnosis of their injury and knowledge of the weeks they may miss and what is required of them to ensure they are back on the field missing the least time possible. All assessment sessions will be charged a flat rate of $90.

As part of this early diagnosis of injuries we are also running some free information nights for the sports trainers at local clubs. These information nights will include up to date injury management and diagnosis of particular body parts, will have a orthopaedic surgeon as guest speaker, as well as a taping tutorial. More information about these trainers nights will come shortly.
