Power House 7.10-52 defeated Old Westbourne 6.13-49

Goal Kickers: J. Gatti 3, L. Stubbs 2, L. Johnston , M. Webb
Best Players: B. Leske, R. Webb, T. Saraw, J. Avery, M. Webb, S. Circosta

The boys headed out to a windy Old Westbourne Oval in Tarneet to try and string together two wins in a row for the first time in more than 2 years.

The game was a lacklustre affair with a challenging wind and sloppy skills from both sides turning it into a close struggle and slog for long periods.

We started slowly struggling into a strong wind and turned scoreless at 1/4 time while Old Westbourne put on 3 goals 3.

The second term saw the boys lift and kick 4 goals but still allowed the opposition to kick 2 goals into the wind. We trailed by 4 points at the main break.

The third term ultimately decided the result with Old Westbourne wasting the wind and scoring end managing a disappointing 9 points in an innaccurate quarter.

The Power House boys hung in and gave themselves a big chance heading into the last term trailing by only 12 points.

The boys lifted in the last quarter and kicked 3 goals to hang on and win by 3 points.

Ben Leske took some key marks across half back in the final stanza to hold out the opposition in a great performance. Ricky Webb and Tanj Saraw were dominant around the ball while Jacob Avery and Steve Circosta were prominent.

Jaydn Gatti booted 3 goals and Luke Stubbs continued his recent form with 2 gaols.

This week we head back home to take on Latrobe University in another key game.

All I can say is…”Thank goodness for Euan Edwards“.

The great man singlehandedly got the boys over the line in another fantastic individual performance from a key figure at Power House.

With Key Swingman Patrick Arnold still lighting it up in the Senior Team, Power Midfielder Daniel Buckley returned to bolster the lineup and give the boys a strong chance.

With Rocket “Grandpa” Marshall still unavailable with babysitting duties, the side was bolstered by the return of James “Playboy” Walsh.

The side, who is still missing the soft hands of Jeremy “The Duck” Plazzer and Ben “I’m Sam Watson’s Brother” Gair certainly made a statement in the first quarter dominating a disappointing Old Westbourne side and held a strong lead at the first break.

The second quarter saw the boys hold their ascendancy and go into the sheds with a 26 point lead thanks mainly to Euan Edwards and his dominant display

He was leading all comers with a massive Dream Team performance…but there was more to come from the great man.

The third quarter saw a strong performance across the ground as the boys kicked 38 points clear.

With the loss of Key Power Midfielder Daniel Buckley and Lynden “Aaron” Neville to a nasty head clash, the boys were a little undermanned but produced the goods as Euan Edawards played like 3 men to cover their loss!

Old Westbourne fought back in the final term but Euan Edwards held them off magnificently to lead his team to a 22 point victory.

Steve “The Gentle Giant” Devine and Padraig “Wayne” O’Grady were dominant while Nathan “The Fist” Moresi, Justin “Sparky” White (3 goals) and “The Playboy” Walsh were great contributors.

Meanwhile…Euan Edwards continues to defy belief!
