The Power House side travelled out to Aquinas to play a key game in their season. A loss would leave them at the lower end of the table while a win would put them back in the running for a spot in the top 6.

The game started well for The House who kicked 4 goals in an entertaining first stanza. Aquinas could have been closer at 1/4 time but errant kicking left them trailing by 9 points at the first change.

The Power House side slipped into another gear in the second term kicking 4 goals to 1 but missed a chance to stretch the lead further with some poor kicking for goal. The half time break saw the boys leave the field with a 35 point lead.

The House team knew Aquinas would come back strongly in the third term as they did. They booted 6 goals to 2 and totally dominated the term and pegged the lead back to a mere 11 points. At this stage, the game was there for the taking by either side.

However, the last quarter was all Power House as they piled on 7 goals to nil and run away comfortable 55 point winners.

Best for the House were Luke Stubbs and Reece Humphreys while Michael Webb and Rowan Hobson continued their solid form of recent weeks. Ryan Damkjaer and Dave Burnside were also prominent.

Reece Humphreys and Jaydn Gatti were focal points up forward with 5 goals each while Gerry Tubridy and Leroy Johnston booted 2 goals each.

The boys travel to Old Westbourne this week in search of back to back victories to keep pushing up the table.

Reserves

Power House 8.9-57 defeated by Aquinas 9.9-63

Goal Kickers: S. Devine 3, E. Edwards 2, N. Moresi , T. O’Sullivan , P. Mackney
Best Players: M. Lynch, B. Lonsdale, N. Moresi, C. Plazzer, S. Devine, M. Chylinski

With both Power Midfielder Daniel Buckley kicking goals in the Seniors, the call came for the elevation of Key Swingman Patrick Arnold to the Senior side to join his partner in crime.

This left a talent gap in the side which was covered by the skill, versatility and passion of Euan Edwards.

The boys were quickly out of the blocks against a solid Aquinas team and led by 7 points at the first change. Euan Edwards was keeping the Power House boys in the contest.

The second quarter saw Aquinas kick 4 goals to 2. It would have been more had Euan Edwards not been on the ground!

We struggled again in the third quarter only kicking a solitary goal while conceding 3 despite the dominace of Euan Edwards. We were down by 20 points at the last change.

We staged a major comeback in the last quarter on the back of some more Euan Edwards brilliance but fell short by a solitary goal.

Best for the House were Euan Edwards, Michael “Lynch Mob” Lynch, Benny “Point” Lonsdsale and Nathan “The Fist” Moresi.

Steve “Spare Ribs” Devine booted three goals while pushing forward and Michael “Ice Man” Chylinski played well as did Chris “I’m Hitched” Plazzer.

If it wasnt for the skill and versatility of Euan Edwards, we wouldn’t have got close. His ability through the forward half of the ground to constantly find space and create goal scoring opportunities was unbelievable and his two goals were a mere reflection of his work rate around the ground!

Next week the boys travel to Old Westbourne to seek the 4 points.
