Going into the game, Power House gave themselves a great chance against a quality opposition, in a game would be played in heavy, testing conditions.

Powerhouse came out firing kicking with the wind in the first quarter, however Richmond settled and with both sides kicking accurately, Centrals took a 2 goal lead into the first break.

The House kicked 3 goals into the wind in the second quarter, but in an end-to-end contest, couldn’t contain the rampant Richmond attacked who piled on 6 goals for the second quarter in a row – Demeo would end up with 8!

A highlight of the 2nd half was Jacob ‘Blinga’ Avery missing the start of the second half of his goal umpiring duties and then running to the wrong end.

The pace of the game slowed after half time, and Power House matched it with the Snakes for the rest of the game. The revived pressure was getting to the visitors as a scuffle broke out part way through the third term. But with tired bodies and a slushy ground, the home team they couldn’t make enough inroads into the deficit, going down by 35 points.

Sammy Buultjens bossed the ruck all day, often plucking the ball out of the air and giving Powerhouse first use. When the ball hit the deck Adam Collett was everywhere continuing an impressive “career”.

Sam Watson showed a ton of courage in defence, continually smashing the ball away from the opposition. Michael ‘Latch’ Lynch was at his pesky best restricting the influence of the dangerous Costanzo.

Lee Johnston was a great target upfront working tirelessly all day and coming home with 5 sausage rolls (and 5 goals to match!)

Congratulations to Gerry ‘Pig’ Tubridy on his 50th game for the club. His pace, creativity and fiery Irish attitude have been valued by the club over the past few seasons.

Power House 3.5-23 defeated by Richmond Central 12.19-91

Goal Kickers: D. Richards 3
Best Players: C. Barratt, D. Richards, D. Eastey, A. Reynolds, M. Flindt, P. Mackney

PHAFC 2’s returned to the muddy Ross Gregory Oval looking to knock off the 2nd place Richmond Central.

The Boys started well with Daz ‘Lumberjack’ Richards snagging the first goal of the game. The boys went in 4 points up at the first break, but didn’t make the most of the wind in the first quarter.

In the 2nd quarter  Richmond slammed on 5 goals to none. Duncan ‘Slam’ Eastey was doing a great job in the ruck but his midfielders were struggling to pick up his gift wrapped taps! Aiden ‘Firebrand’ Reynolds continued his solid form with dash and flare, Phil ‘The Power’ Mackney was also at his rough and tumble best!

Steve ‘Feathers’ Webb warmed up the oven and gave the boys a bit of a bake at half time and the boys responded, Daz ‘ Lumberjack’ Richards kicked two for the quarter and the contest was a real stalemate. Chris ‘Jack in the Box’ Barrett was popping up everywhere and had more shots on goals than a wayward Buddy Franklin.

Mike ‘Plums’ Flindt played some inspiring German football, it definitely wasn’t his ‘wurst’ game! Daniel ‘Angry Pills’ Buckley got in a scuffle and threw some Peter Pan punches (they Neverland!) and veteran Patrick ‘Plastic Sheets’ Arnold was too busy giving off ‘don’t argues’ to have an effect on the game!

Rick ‘Going on a Summer’ Tolliday played his best game for the year, Jono ‘Not a Freo’ Docker was getting his waddle on and Al ‘Comeback Kid’ Contreras revelled in the muddy conditions throwing himself into packs at will!!

Even though it was a better team performance after half time the boys still fell short by 58 points.

This leads us into a big game against Albert Park as we look to find some form close to the finals.

Thanks to all the helpers on the day – let’s get down to Albert Parks home ground this week and give ‘em hell!
