The Power House boys finally took the field for the first official game in Season 2013 travelling to Beaconsfield to lock horns with St Francis Xavier

New Senior Coach Antony Voyage had the team fired up and looking to execute a new game plan which they had been working on through the whole of pre season.

There were six new faces in the line up with the return of key big man Dave Burnside after a year away. Former Senior Captain and Premiership star Reece Humphreys was also amongst the new faces with Hugh Tomlinson and Mark Conomy making their debuts.

Up forward, Jaydn Gatti pulled on the boots while Michael Webb had his first run through the midfield.

Led out by Co-Captains Ben Leske and Adam Collett, the boys kicked into a solid wind in the first quarter and played with a high level of intensity keeping the opposition to a low return while getting on the board with an early goal.

The second quarter was another intense battle with St Francis pulling away but a late goal to Reece Humphreys pulling it back to 13 pionts at the main break.

The third quarter proved decisive as we dropped our intensity and allowed the opposition eary run out of defence and they piled on 5 unanswered goals to pull away to a 46 point lead.

Ant asked the boys to dig deep in the last quarter and we lifted to finish with a 28 point loss.

Best for the House were Ben Leske across half back and Hugh Tomlinson on a wing while Lee Johnston kicked 2 majors.

The boys looked much improved on last years efforts and in patches played some good football.

All is needed is 4 quarters of sustained intensity and the ability to take the chances when they come, and the results will look after themselves.
